Chinese New Year is known as the Spring Festival, a Chinese New Year Celebration is similar to Christmas or Thanksgiving in the Chinese community. The traditional celebration lasts between 7 to 15 days. Families would gather from all over the world to celebrate the happiness with each other. Red and gold decorations adorn homes, malls and even along the streets. Large meals are prepared for families, visiting guests and relatives to enjoy together. Red envelopes filled with goodies (money, sweets, etc.) are a sign of wealth. These red envelopes are shared to wish people good fortune, prosperity and longevity.

Chinese New Year is celebrated in countries and territories with large Chinese populations and in Chinatowns all over the world. Each country and area has their own unique traditions and customs when celebrating this festive event.

In 2018, we will celebrate the year of the “Dog.” Representing royalty and wealthy, dogs have been popular in the Asian Community. Chinese have a traditional belief that dogs can predict when good or bad things are happening. Join us to celebrate the upcoming wonderful new year!
