Spring Festival, widely known as Chinese New Year in the West, is the most important traditional festival in China and a public holiday. The festival falls on the first day of the first lunar month (always somewhere in the period January 21 to February 20), and ends with Lantern Festival which is on the 15th day.  
The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar.  
Chinese Moon Festival is traditionally celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunisolar month (see Mid-Autumn Festival Dates), which is in September or October. 
The Chinese Winter Solstice Festival marks the shortest day of the year that indicates the official beginning of winter season (around Dec 22nd or 23rd) 
How did the order the Chinese Zodiac come to be, you ask? There have been many different folktales told of how the animals earned their position on the Zodiac.
